The 53 residents of Mooresville, Alabama, incorporated in 1818, proudly invite you to step back in time and join us for our Walking Tour Weekend, May 17 and 18, 2013. Reservations and fees are required for the workshops, the concert, and the picnic supper offered on Friday, May 17, and may be made through our web site after January 2013. Tickets for the Walking Tour on Saturday may be purchased at the gate.

Visitors will experience 19th century village life by strolling our beautiful gardens and tree-lined streets and touring the historic public buildings. Traditional artisans will demonstrate 19th century trades and crafts, including a Windsor Chair-making demonstration by Ralph and Caron Quick of Clarksville, MO www.thewindsorchairshop.net. Children’s activities will include pony cart rides and a demonstration of old-fashioned toys. Traditional musicians will perform on porches and streets, and food and drink will be available for purchase. Woody Peebles’ private collection of Americana will also be open to the public.

For an additional fee, a milk paint workshop taught by Caron Quick will be offered at the Mooresville Mercantile shop Saturday 9:00 to 12 noon. $100 per person. Register at mooresvillemercantile.com/id77.html

Admission for the Saturday Walking Tour is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. All funds raised will support the preservation of the following historic public buildings in Mooresville:

The 1821 Stagecoach Tavern, reportedly the oldest frame public building in Alabama.

The 1839 Brick Church, one of the few remaining examples of the Greek Revival Brick Churches built in Alabama in the early 19 th century.

The 1840 Post Office, one of the oldest post office buildings in the country.

The 1854 Church of Christ, where General James A. Garfield, who would later become our 20th President, preached while encamped nearby during the Civil War.
